Up until the ripe old age of 30, I had never considered a life insurance policy. Married without children or a mortgage, I really didn’t find the need to insure myself… especially if it gave my wife extra incentive to get rid of me (she’ll tell you, of course, that no extra incentive is needed). Now, however, with both a mortgage and two very young children, I very much understand the importance of taking care of my family if I’m no longer around.
With the help of Haven Life, I successfully purchased a 10-year term life insurance policy. This Haven Life review details my experience purchasing the policy as well as highlights the important features Haven Life offers.
Applying for Term Life Insurance with Haven Life
Getting started with Haven Life was fairly easy. I visited the Haven Life website and answered a handful of easy questions to get a quote in a minute’s time. From there, I had an idea of how much the policy was going to cost.

I was quoted $14 a month for the $500,000, 10-year term policy I selected. Immediately following my quote, I was asked to complete a full application. From start to finish, the application took roughly 15 minutes. Once that was complete, I was asked to sign it, and provide my banking information to make automated payments.
Although I had to meet with my doctor to complete a physical to finalize my policy, I was given temporary coverage that would protect me until my policy was issued.
After creating an account with Haven Life, I was able to log in and see my application status. Also inside my account was the ability to cancel my application (if I so desire), review my application, or browse some general FAQs.
Haven Life Policy Options and Term Limits
There are two primary term life insurance policy options offered by Haven Life. The difference between them is the coverage amounts and whether or not you’re willing to get a medical exam in order to provide the best (and sometimes least expensive) coverage.
Haven Simple is a life insurance policy that caters toward faster approval for a lower term. Coverage limits are capped at $1 million but you immediately have coverage if your application is approved (no waiting period).
The biggest benefit of Haven Simple is that no medical exam is required for coverage. Coverage is not available in CA, DE, NY, ND, and SD.

Haven Term is the standard term life insurance policy offered and coverage amounts range all the way up to $3 million for people under the age of 60 ($1 million for people ages 60-64). Most applicants will end up needing a medical exam (just like I did) and temporary coverage is provided during that process.
In both instances, the cost of insurance is quite reasonable. I find that when comparing Haven Life to other term insurance provides, the policy cost is almost always compariable, or lower. That said, you’re going to pay a little bit more to avoid the health exam with Haven Simple.

BONUS – One of the best features of both Haven Term and Haven Simple is the ability to create a will using Trust & Will. The normal cost for such a service is $159 (individual) or $259 (couples) but it’s absolutely free if you have a Haven Life policy.
Haven Life Customer Service
One of the more fortunate things about life insurance is that it’s a product that you’ll rarely need to contact customer service for. You’re covered, or your not but if you run into difficulty in securing your coverage or have questions about payouts, limits or other life insurance questions, Haven Life has a variety of contact options.
- Live chat is available during normal business hours.
- You can email them at any time and they promise a swift reply
- Customer service is available via phone (1-855-744-2836) on M-Th between the hours of 9am and 5pm ET.

Is Haven Life Insurance Right for You?
Life insurance can be an odd topic to discuss with your family because the only way to reap its benefits is when somebody you love passes away. Setting the awkwardness aside, one of the most important decisions a family can make is ensuring that they’re taken care of should the worst happen.
Haven Life shows just how affordable a 10-year term life insurance policy can be. I would highly recommend them if you’re in the market for your first life insurance policy or if you’d like to have additional coverage to what you already have.
And if you’re someone who has life insurance through a company policy and pays out of pocket each pay period, I beg you to compare the costs and coverages. You’ll be shocked to learn what Haven Life can save you.
