Amex Prepaid Card Offering $25 Gift Card

Update: This prepaid card is no longer available. American Express now offers the Serve Prepaid Card.

American Express has just launched a limited time offer for those interested in its prepaid card. Until August 31, 2012, Amex is giving away a $25 gift card when you get an American Express® Prepaid Card and load $200 or more at the time of order.

This is a particularly good offer given just how inexpensive the Amex prepaid card is to begin with. As we described in our review of the American Express prepaid card, it’s basically free. There are no fees to get the card, load the card, or use the card. The only notable exception is ATM withdrawals, but even there the first withdrawal each month is free. For this reason, the card is one of our top picks for low cost prepaid cards.

So the addition of a $25 gift card makes the offer all the more attractive.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, as mentioned above, the offer is good only through August 31, 2012. Second, when you follow the link to the American Express page, you won’t actually see anything describing the $25 gift card offer. But once you click on the “Get Your Card Now” link that you’ll see on the Amex website, you’ll see information about the offer on the application page.

  1. “There are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, as mentioned above, the offer is good only through July 31, 2012.”

You have a typo. Above you had mentioned that it is only good through 8-31-12 as it is past 7-31-12 as of today.

  2. So let me get this right … you convert $600 (3 x $200) into AMEX gift cards, and then they send you $75 (3 x $25) for no extra charge?

Is there ANY cost (any shipping, tax, fees, etc.) to get this? Just want to be absolutely sure before I order. How many can you order for this deal?
