You’ll notice that there are two checking account bonuses. This one worth $300, and the second one we’ll look at in a minute with a $150 bonus. That may raise a question. Why would anybody choose a $150 bonus over a $300 bonus. In a word–fees. The Chase Premier Plus Checking account requires a higher balance to avoid monthly fees.  Here are the details:

Chase Premier Plus Checking has no Monthly Service Fee when you do at least one of the following each statement period: Option #1: Keep an average daily balance of $15,000 or more in any combination of qualifying Chase checking, savings and other balances; OR, Option #2: Have automatic payments to your qualifying linked Chase mortgage from your Chase account. Payments set up through Online Bill Pay do not qualify. Mortgages must be in good standing and be first mortgages with servicing retained by Chase. Otherwise a $25 Monthly Service Fee will apply.

Chase Total Checking®

With the Chase Total Checking® account the steps to get the bonus are the same. Here are the details:

As noted above, the key difference are the monthly fees. To avoid a monthly fee with this account, here’s what you’ll need to do–

Otherwise a $12 Monthly Service Fee will apply.

So it’s easier to avoid the fee, and if you must pay it–Monthly Service Fee: $12.
