Student credit cards are designed with features aimed at college students. These features typically fall into three categories. First, student cards generally do not charge an annual fee, as the credit card industry recognizes that most college students are on a tight budget. Second, most of these cards offer cash back rewards. These cash back rewards are often for purchases at gas stations and grocery stores. Third, some of the student credit cards offer travel rewards to help offset the cost of trips back home or to help save up for spring .

Citi® mtvU^TM Platinum Select® Visa® Card for College Students

The Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa Card for College Students rewards you for maintaining a high GPA and making your payments on time. You'll earn five points per dollar spent at restaurants, bookstores, record stores, movie theaters, and on video rentals, and you'll earn one point per dollar spent everywhere else. Plus, you'll earn 25 points for making payments on time and up to 2,000 points twice a year depending on your GPA. Points can be redeemed for gift cards, CDs, VIP mtvU Spring Break Passes, tickets to the MTV Video Music Awards, and airline tickets. Discover® Student Card - Monogram Collection

The Discover Student Card - Monogram Collection is ideal if you are looking for a cash back reward card and would like a truly personalized card design that displays your initial(s) on the front of the card. Through the reward program, you'll earn a 5% rebate for purchases made in popular categories that change four times a year like travel, gas, restaurants, movies, and more. Plus, you'll earn up to 1% for general purchases. You can also earn up to a double Cashback Bonus for redeeming your rebates for gift certificates from participating Discover Card Partners. There is no yearly limit on the amount of rebates that can be earned, and rebates do not expire as long as the account is active within a 36-month period.
