		<description>It&#039;s not even a close call ... I would consider speculating in the P2P market with $15k as that is a tiny part of my portfolio, but even then I would question the risk/reward against plenty of other opportunities.

Fixing the rate and aiming to keep the house forever would be great ... even better, turn it into a rental and move into a lower-rent house or apartment until the housing market and her finances recover ..

		<description>NO, NO, NO to taking a chunk like that and investing in the [now] very risky P2P lending market!
Amen to refi&#039;ing. If the home value goes up, one could always refi again with a bit more leverage, if it goes down, you are so stuck. 2010 is not that far way, particularly in this market, where values are still plumating and it may take until 2010 to stabilize.
Just my opinion--no financial education, just some common sense.</description>
