Will the US Go the Way of GM?

by DR

The tale of General Motors' economic turmoil should be a lesson for the United States. With mounting debt, off balance sheet obligations (e.g., Social Security and Medicare), and previously unthinkable annual deficits, the US is living on borrowed time. GM's health care and retirement obligations crushed the company's competitiveness, and one can't help but wonder if the same will happen (or is happening) to the U.S.

Which brings me to a frightening video from the Glenn Beck show. I don't watch the Glenn Beck show or any other political commentary show for that matter. But I did confirm the facts set forth in this video from the Federal Reserve. The long and short of it is that the US is printing dollars at a rate far in excess of anything we have done in the past.

Just imagine if a company you had invested in started printing new shares. The result would be a devaluation of the shares you own. The same thing is happening to the dollar. And its our children and their children that will pay the price.
