I started on blogger, and switched to WordPress once I had decided I was in it for the long haul. WordPress is sooo much better. So many more options when it comes to monetization, optimization and helpful tools/plugins. I only wish I had started there in the first place instead of waiting 6 months.

Great article, but I am not convinced that the time investment is worth the effort. If I invest the same amount of time into other things (researching, writing better articles, adding features, marketing, etc.) I think the payoff is better. At least, that has been my experience. The constant changing nature of SEO reduces the value in investing time into it, because you have to constantly invest more time to get the same results. This is unlike investing more time into research and writing better articles or marketing, because the investment continues to pay off without further investing.

Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I just don’t know enough secretes about SEO, but from my experience in today�s competitive market, your time is better invested in other things.

I agree. Just need to find the time to read up (I know you have an article, so will start there) and then take the time to succesfully replatform.

Andys, Blogger is a great way to get started, although just about everybody I know that started on Blogger eventually switched to a self-hosted WordPress setup.

Great article covering a topic that is becoming of more interest to me as by blog grows and I try and attract more search engine traffic. Unfortunately I am on blogger and so can’t use some of the features you metion, but the concepts are just as applicable.

Good overall introduction, although getting to the first position on Google is going to require a lot more than a few articles with anchor text.
