The DoughRoller Weekly RoundUp (Stockpickr $1,000 Virtual Challenge Edition)

I’m not usually one for entering contests, but the folks at Stockpickr have created one that’s caught my eye.  Anyone interested in winning $1,000 each month (in addition to a variety of other prizes) only needs to sign up a free virtual trading account with $250,000 in cash and trade stocks.  At the end of the month, the person with the highest gain, percentage wise, wins $1,000 in cash.  The game is called Wall Street Pros vs. Main Street Joes Stockpickr Challenge.

But that’s not the only prize that can be won.  Second place each month wins $500 and third place wins $300.  Places fourth through tenth receive a free one year subscription to Jim Cramer’s “Real Money”, valued at over $225 each.  Even if you have one good week in the competition, you can still win weekly prizes from Stockpickr, announced before every week begins.

Not all stocks will be available during the contest to trade, but more than 7,000 of them will be so there are a variety of options to choose from.  Contestants must be 18 years of age to play and each month, Stockpickr will highlight some of the best and worst moves made.  This challenge is meant to mirror real life investing, so every trade you make will be charged a broker commission.  Other rules and regulations are included but I think I’ve covered the basics.  Experienced and amateur traders welcome!  Good luck.

It is a “play money” commission, correct? If you have to pay a real money commission then this would be a lottery, and since not govt run, illegal.
