I, too, read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and some of the follow-up books about six years ago. At the time, they got me all excited and made me want to dive into owning my own business. Since then, it's become more clear to me that Kiyosaki is at least half-full of crap.

It is quite likely that there is, in fact, no rich dad. There's been quite a bit of research done on this, and Kiyosaki himself refuses to even confirm that Rich Dad is real, much less identify him. Given the autobiographical information presented in the first book, it becomes clear that if there really isn't a rich dad, then most of what Kiyosaki is saying is garbage he's making up out of his own very limited experience.

I also really don't care for the fact that he claims to have retired at the age of 47, when it's clear that's probably working harder than ever now.

I love to see people who aren't in love with him. It seems like he's brainwashed so many but his advice that he's giving can be dangerous and the stuff that Yahoo publishes is embarassing. I've been thinking of starting a letter writing campaign to try to get him removed and the more bloggers who I read who can't stand him the more I want to do it...

Hmmm...

I've added this as a <a href="http://personalfinance101org.blogspot.com/2007/06/personal-finance-101-posts-of-day-6607.html" rel="nofollow">Post of the Day</a>

I like what you've written here - this guy needs to be discredited and launched via catapult out to sea.
