American Funds has something else that Vanguard and Fidelity don't have............HIGH FEES! I just moved my money out of AF and could not be happier. I also hated having to deal with an adviser every time I wanted to do ANYTHING.

But before anyone invests in Fidelity or Vanguard or Black Rock or Hartford or anything else, for the love of all that is good and worthy, PLEASE check out the American Funds. They simply cannot be topped ethically, and their performance is just outstanding.

My old boss, who understood very little about investing chose Fidelity Freedom Fund for her 401(k). I was glad to hear that because after hearing her occasionally talk about investing I was a little worried for her portfolio. But I also didn't feel qualified to offer advice.
