Earlier this year, we reviewed the Citi ThankYou Premier Card. The major drawback of that card was its high annual fee of $125 (plus, it’s no longer available). So this time, let’s take a look at the Citi ThankYou® Preferred Rewards Card. I promise the annual fee will be much more to your liking.
The Citi ThankYou® Preferred Rewards Card offers all new cardholders a 15,000 point bonus after making $1,000 in purchases during the first three months. Those 15,000 points can be redeemed for a $150 gift card, or a variety of other merchandise through the ThankYou Network. The Citi ThankYou® Preferred Rewards Card does not include a 0% intro offer, so the purchase APR is 12.99%-22.99%* (Variable) (based on the applicants credit history).
The rewards program for the Citi ThankYou® Preferred Rewards Card is a solid one. Cardholders will earn 5 points for every dollar spent during the first 12 months on gasoline, supermarket and drugstore purchases and 1 point for every dollar spent thereafter. 200 bonus points are earned after you sign up an online account and again for paperless statements and each year, you’ll receive a bonus depending on how many years you’ve been a cardholder. For example, if you’ve earned 10,000 points year one, you’ll receive a 1% bonus, which is 100 points. The breakdown of anniversary rewards is as follows:
- First Year – 1% bonus
- Second Year – 2% bonus
- Third Year + – 3% bonus
Last but certainly not least, the Citi ThankYou® Preferred Rewards Card does not carry an annual fee. This means that all of your freebies are truly that and you won’t lose rewards to a costly fee each and every year. If you find yourself in need of a new credit card and have yet to own a Citi card, the Citi ThankYou® Preferred Rewards Card is perfect for everyday spending. Hi! I am not sure what this card is. I mean is it a Mastercard or Visa? How do would I use it. Would I swipe the card like all others? Is it a prepaid card? I read what it can save, but not exactly what it is.
Please help. Thank you!
