Summary:

This card offers excellent travel rewards and bonus miles. It's the card I carry and use everyday.

Venture, as defined by Webster’s dictionary, is to “proceed somewhere despite the risk of possible dangers.”  Seems like a strange way to introduce a credit card that is the most recognizable brand of the Capital One product line, but the Capital One® VentureSM Rewards Credit Card offers excellent benefits for any consumer with good to excellent credit.

One of the few Capital One cards to offer a bonus up front, the Capital One® VentureSM Rewards Credit Card rewards cardholders with 10,000 bonus miles after spending just $1,000 during the first three months of card ownership.  Every $1 you spend earns you two miles, which can be redeemed for any travel expense.  Miles never expire and there’s never a limit to the amount of miles that you can earn.

The Capital One® VentureSM Rewards Credit Card also includes a mountain of perks, most notably:

  • 2 miles per dollar on every purchase, every day
  • As seen in Money® Magazine’s “Best” issue three years in a row. - Money® Magazine May 2010, 2011, 2012
  • Earn 10,000 bonus miles when you spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 months, equal to $100 in travel
  • Redeem your miles for any travel expense
  • No limit on the miles you can earn and miles don’t expire
  • Fly on any airline, any time with no blackout dates
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • $0 intro annual fee for the first year; $59 after that

The purchase APR on the Capital One® VentureSM Rewards Credit Card is 13.90%-20.90% (Variable) variable and the APR you will receive will be based on your credit history.  An annual fee of $59 is associated with this card, but it’s waived for the first year, allowing you to test drive your new credit card without paying a fee.  Last but certainly not least, this travel rewards credit card does not charge foreign transaction fees.

Summary

Owning a travel rewards credit card is a great way to save money on vacations and other travel purchases.  But foreign transaction fees can put a damper on every purchase you make outside of the United States.  Paying up to a 3% fee simply for making purchases abroad is not something a cardholder should have to put up with and fortunately, you don’t have to with the Capital One® VentureSM Rewards Credit Card.  For more information or to fill out an application, visit the secure application page using any link contained within this post.

Comments

  1. I think I still prefer a combo of the Discover More card with rotating 5% cash back categories and the Penfed Visa with the 5% cash back on gas all the time. It gives me more options overall.
