Bill Talmadge, you say you found at least two other no penalty CD’s with rates higher than Ally’s. Would you care to share?

Agriculture Federal Credit Union only required a one-time $20 payment to CityDance in Washington, D.C. in order for people who do not live in the Washington, D.C. area to become members of their credit union. Their IRA 60-month No-Penalty CD paying 3.0% was only available if you signed up by April 1, 2010. I got one and I’m very glad that I did. It easily beats all of the other No-Penalty CD’s. AFCU is a member of the Credit Union Service Centers network which allows deposits and withdrawals at credit union locations all over the nation.

Bill, thanks for your comment. As a general rule, I avoid any banks that require me to join a dance club. If you find one without such a requirement that offers 2.00%+ on a no penalty CD, please let us know.

You are not even close to the best rate in no penalty cd’s. I found at least 3 better than Ally. One I’m looking at is credit union called AFCU,I think, or close to it (Agriculture something or other). Problem is you have to join a dance club in DC, believe it or not, for 20 dollars a year. However, their rate was around 3 percent.
Their application was difficult to maneuver around, so I stopped.
You need to do a better job. Let me know if you find anything. Less than 2 percent is ridiculous.
